Why client-side AAC compression is faster without upload queues

ezyZip compresses AAC files using a WebAssembly-compiled media engine running directly in your browser. Here is why local compression outperforms cloud-based tools:

  • Dual-Mode ExecutionMulti-threaded processing via SharedArrayBuffer as the primary mode, with automatic fallback to single-threaded execution for maximum browser compatibility. Multi-threaded mode distributes encoding work across CPU cores, dramatically accelerating compression for longer files.
  • Direct Filesystem MountingSource files are mounted directly into the WASM virtual filesystem, bypassing memory copy overhead. This means even multi-gigabyte video files can be processed without doubling their memory footprint during loading.
  • Adaptive Bitrate AlgorithmOptimal compression parameters are calculated locally based on your target size, duration, and content complexity. The algorithm analyzes scene changes, motion levels, and detail density to allocate bits where they matter most for visual quality.
  • No RestrictionsThere are no watermarks, no daily usage quotas, and no queue wait times — throughput depends only on your device. Most cloud-based compressors impose file size limits, processing caps, or degrade quality on free tiers, restrictions that don't exist with local processing.
