Why client-side PSD to ZIP conversion handles complex compression faster
ezyZip converts PSD to ZIP using a WebAssembly engine with full support for advanced compression methods. Here is why local processing handles complex formats better:
- Advanced Codec SupportFull support for LZMA, LZMA2, and solid block compression — multiple codec plugins are compiled to WASM and loaded on demand. The engine handles all 7z compression methods including BCJ, BCJ2, and Delta filters used for executable and binary data.
- Near-Native SpeedCodec execution runs at near-native speed directly on your CPU, with a dedicated Web Worker preventing interface freezing during processing. LZMA2 decompression in particular benefits heavily from WASM's optimized memory access patterns, achieving throughput comparable to native desktop tools.
- No Network BottleneckServer-based tools add upload and download overhead on top of already CPU-intensive decompression — local processing eliminates the network layer entirely. Since 7z archives often use very high compression ratios, the resulting files can be significantly smaller than the source data, but server tools still require uploading the full original.
- Solid Block HandlingSolid archives store multiple files in a single compression block for better ratios. The WebAssembly engine handles these blocks natively, maintaining full decompression fidelity without the block-boundary errors that simpler tools encounter.
