Yes. ezyZip utilises the processing power of your own computer and browser to complete the task. Your files are processed in your browser and are not uploaded. Unsure? Turn off your WiFi while the task runs. It will keep working, because your files are not uploaded to the internet.

ezyZip is a free online SRT to ASS subtitle converter that runs in your browser. No need to install any additional software. It converts between other subtitle formats too.

Your subtitle file is converted in your browser and is not uploaded to a server, which helps protect your privacy. Use it as many times as you want, completely free.

SRT (SubRip Subtitle) is one of the most common subtitle formats. It is a plain text file in which each subtitle has a number, a start and end time, and one or more lines of text. Formatting is limited to simple tags such as bold and italic, and it is widely supported by video players, editors and video sites.
ASS (Advanced SubStation Alpha) is a subtitle format with rich styling. Besides text and timing it stores named styles (font, size, colours, outline), exact on-screen positions, and effects such as karaoke and movement. It is widely used for anime subtitles and is the format written by the Aegisub subtitle editor.
Bold and italic carry over from SRT, VTT, SMI and MicroDVD files, and italics from SCC captions. From an SRT file, underline, colour, font, size and alignment tags are converted too. An SSA file keeps its own styles. From every other format the converted file gets one default style (Arial, size 16, white, or Monospace for SCC and MCC captions), which you can change in a subtitle editor.
Check the text encoding first: subtitle files should be saved as UTF-8. In our tests, files saved in an older encoding, such as Windows-1252 or Korean CP949, either failed with an error or converted with the lines that contain accented or non-English characters missing. Some UTF-16 files did the same. If your file is not UTF-8, open it in a text editor, save it as UTF-8, and convert it again.

ezyZip processes files directly in your browser. Unlike most online tools, your files are not uploaded to our servers, which means faster processing and better privacy. Take a look at the feature comparison below and we think you'll agree that ezyZip is the better choice for your file conversion needs.

Why convert SRT to ASS in your browser

ezyZip converts SRT to ASS inside your browser. Here is what that means for your subtitle files:

  • Your File Is Not UploadedThe subtitle file is read and converted on your own device. It is not sent to a server, so dialogue from an unreleased video or a private recording stays with you.
  • No Upload to Wait ForThe file is converted on your device, so there is nothing to upload first. In our tests, a two-hour subtitle file converted in about three seconds.
  • Eight Subtitle and Caption FormatsConvert SRT, VTT, ASS, SSA, SUB, SMI, SCC and MCC files to SRT, VTT or ASS.
  • Save Where You Need ItThe save menu offers your device, Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive.
