What is ezyZip?

ezyZip is a free online tar.gz to zip converter that runs in your browser. No need to install any additional converter software. It supports a myriad of other file conversion options too.

Unlike other online archive conversion utilities, ezyZip DOES NOT enforce file size restrictions or require uploading files to a server. It runs locally as a browser app, thus making it much quicker than other online conversion tools. This means you'll be able to convert large compressed files! This also ensures your privacy will be protected as no file data will leave your browser.

What is a tar.gz file?

A tar.gz file is basically two files wrapped into one. The first one is a tar file (sometimes referred to as a tarball), a collection of files & folders wrapped into a single package. The tar file then gets compressed into a gz file, utilising the GNU zip (gzip) compression algorithm.

This is a common pattern used in unix/linux environments to bundle multiple files for easier distribution or backup.

Tgz and tar.gz files are essentially the same thing, just with different file extension.
