What is a DEB file?

The Debian Linux distribution and it's derivatives use DEB files to package software appications. The file contains two tar files that contain the metadata information and installable media respectively.

You'll need to save the data.tar(.gz) file and open it separately to gain access to the software data.

How to open DEB file?

  1. Under "Select DEB file to open", click on browse (or your browser equivalent)
  2. Select the deb file you wish to extract.
  3. Click "Extract". It will list the content of the deb installation package.
  4. Click "Save" on the individual files to save file to your local drive.

What operating system and browser do you support?

This version of ezyZip uses modern browser features, so ensure you're using the latest and greatest (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge or one of their variants). This ain't your grandpa's online extractor!

We have tested it to work with Windows, MacOS, Linux (e.g. Ubuntu, Mint, Debian), Android, ChromeOS (Chromebook), iOS (iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch).

What is ezyZip?

ezyZip is a free online tool for packing and unpacking archive files. It supports zip, 7zip (7z), rar, iso, tar, tar.xz, tar.bz2, tar.gz, tgz, jar, ear, war, deb, zi.

Unlike other zip and unzip online utilities, ezyZip DOES NOT have file size restrictions or require you to upload / download files to a server. It runs locally as a browser app, thus making it much quicker than other similar zip and unzip online tools. This also ensures your privacy will be protected as no file data will leave your browser.
