What is a war file?

WAR stands for Web ARchive and is used for packaging java web applications and libraries into a single compressed file. These can then easily be uploaded into an application server (e.g. Apache Tomcat).

It shares the same compression algorithm with zip files.

What is a ear file?

EAR stands for Enterprise Application aRchive and is used for packaging Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) applications and libraries into a single compressed file. These can then easily be uploaded into an application server (e.g. Apache Tomcat).

It shares the same compression algorithm with zip files.

The only difference between EAR and WAR files is the way some of the configuration files are arranged.

How to open war file?

  1. Under "Select ear/war file to extract", click on browse (or your browser equivalent)
  2. Select the ear or war file you wish to extract.
  3. Click "Extract". It will list the content of the archive.
  4. Click "Save" on the individual files to save file to your local drive or device .

What operating system and browser does ezyZip support?

ezyZip supports any OS that can run a modern browser. We have tested it to work with Windows, MacOS, Linux (e.g. Ubuntu, Mint, Debian), Android, ChromeOS (Chromebook), iOS (iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch).

What is ezyZip?

ezyZip is a free online tool for packing and unpacking archive files. It supports zip, 7zip (7z), rar, iso, tar, tar.xz, tar.bz2, tar.gz, tgz, jar, ear, war, deb, zi.
